revolutions define the scope of civilization, and to say stat the internet has revolutionized our revolutionized our society is an understatement. the INTERNET  makes us realizes how small world is in which we live. the exciting flights of Fancy of the first aircraft made it possible to reach out to different countries and to extend COMMUNICATION to further and lesser-known lands. having conversations with people across the globe have boosted projects of direct communications. The world today depends and thrives on Information. The internet is vast in its scope as well as application. Therefore, a definition that actually does its justice is hard to come across.
However, some common definitions given in the past include
* A network of networks.
* A community of people who use and develop those networks.
* A collection of resources that can be reached from those networks.

The internet is the result of an experiment that began over 20 years ago by u.s. department of defence. The department of defence in 1960's wanted to create a computer network that would continue to function in the event of a disaster, such as nuclear  war
The network was supposed to be flexible so that if a part of the network was damaged or destroyed, the rest of the system would still work. The Network was ARPANET and did the job of I inter.linkingU.S scientific and academic research .it was the forerunner of today's internet.

 The network that makes up the internet today is base on a standard set of protocol-a manually agreed upon method of communication between parties. To get hooked onto the internet, all it takes is a computer, a modem, telephone line browser software. If you have these basic necessities, you can become a member of one of the biggest group in the world-the internet user group.

Who governs the internet?

The internet is a sort club. here, every member has an opinion about how things should work whether you take part or not, however, is your choice.the internet has no president, chief operating officer, or another figure of authority. there's no single authority figure that governs the internet as a whole.

who pays for the internet?

no one pays for the internet; there is no internet company that collects fees. individual
network device how to connect themselves and fund the connections. the isp(internet service provider)  will have to worry about how to make it all work together.
